Paul Smeeton's bitzforbikes is a family business based in Rochdale, Manchester, England. Paul has been a biker for over 30 years and has been supplying spares for over 20 years and takes pride in providing the best service to his customers.

Here are just some of the reasons why you should choose to order from bitzforbikes

History

Paul's first Motorcycle business was formed in 1980 breaking all models of bikes from a large garage at the bottom of his garden. As stock started to grow he found he was out growing his garage and as more and more people were using credit and debit cards Paul decided to concentrate more on mail order and started to specialize in the very popular Yamaha 350 and 250 LC's and later the YPVS.

Paul Smeeton's LC Heaven was born.

Paul became the man to get all your LC and YPVS spares from and any technical help people needed. Because Paul only broke the LC and YPVS's he always had the spares in stock people wanted. Specializing in just two bikes meant Paul logged and stocked every part of the bikes so customers could get anything from a frame or complete engine down to nuts and washers.

With LC's and YPVS's becoming harder to find and people using the internet more and more Paul knew he had to change the direction of the business, so in 2000 he instructed a web design company to build an e-commerce web site to sell new motorcycle spares for all motorcycles. In the summer of 2001 the web site was finished and Paul and his daughter Carrie who was home from University started to input the data. By Christmas 2001 the web site www.bitzforbikes.co.uk was set live for the world to see.

Paul ran the business from his living room with one telephone line and two computers. At first Paul did not hold many spares but as time went by he started to hold his fastest moving stock. By the summer of 2002 business had grown so quickly that premises were needed and the shop in Castleton Rochdale was bought on 22nd of December 2002. Some alterations were needed and in January 2003 bitzforbikes started trading from retail premises. Eleanor one of Paul's other daughters started with the company in the June looking after the books and customer services. By this time bitzforbikes was expanding quicker than Paul could have imagined. We feel this was due to improved delivery times because we were holding more stock and our customer care was second to none. Eleanor decided she wanted a year out so Emma, Paul's third daughter joined the company. In 2004 bitzforbikes became a limited company and Kev joined bitzforbikes to cope with the ever increasing telephone sales. Also in 2004 we decided to improve the way customers were able to search for spares. Instead of searching for products, we thought searching for the make, model and year of your motorcycle and then display all the spares that were available for that bike would be easier for customers to choose the spares they needed, all on one page. So Anthony came on board and started work on the massive task of changing the way the data base of the web site worked. On top of this we had to re enter every make, model and year of bike we had data for, plus all the types of spares we could supply and associate those spares to the bikes. After six months and 140,000 products later (all put in by hand) we launched the new site live. The effect was dramatic and so Rob came to bitzforbikes as we now held most of the stock and we handled all the packing from the shop.

In May 2007 Eleanor returned from her year out that lasted 2 years and is back working with Bitzforbikes and has been a great addition to the team.

Bitzforbikes pride themselves on customer care, service and quality of products and operates a fast efficient mail order system to both retail and trade customers. We are always trying to improve the web site and service, if you have any suggestions please send your suggestions to : paul@bitzforbikes.co.uk.
